What a great ride yesterday! Everything great you could ask for was present. Great company, route, wildflowers (incredible!) weather, food and venue. About a hundred miles of pure smiley face!

Had a few friends ride from Houston to attend the Bandera Rally. They stopped by my cabin to catch up on life before going to rally. They are spending night at rally with a group so road in with them.

I'm the short, old ugly one in the middle. :ROFLMAO:

After breakfast this morning Carla and I were sitting there trying to decide which task needed to be done today. We kept looking out the window at a sunny, 80 degree day and both concluded it was just to nice not to go for a ride. So we headed out to ride around the Twisted Sisters area. We normally don't ride that area on weekends as too many "want to be" racers are out there. Luckily for us there were actually not many bikes out, but a lot of car clubs which are actually worst because they have a hard time staying in their lane. We road for a while, stopped and got some ice cream, stopped one other time before getting dinner on way home. The video below has the Relive video at the beginning then some of my helmet cam video. I shot a lot of video from the bike cam, but sun washed out a lot of it. The helmet camera had less sun washout so I used that. Was definitely a great day to ride.

A few pictures. Seems like we eat alot.

Oh I definitely would go for the blackberry cobbler pie with vanilla ice cream - YUM But I bet it’s not as good as Grandma’s!

Looked like the last nice weather day for a few as some cooler temperatures and precipitation are moving in, so off on a scavenger hunt for another forum, pick up the wife's repaired shoes at the local cobbler's and then waste some gas and time just noodling around the country side.
EDIT: Pretty sure Relive's max speed is a little off, I'm almost certain I never got over 90(ish).

Ran into some pretty heavy smoke at three fairly separate locations, two of them 50+ miles north of home that smelled of burning wood and one less than 10 miles north of home that smelled like plastic. Glad I don't live in any of those places because it was pretty thick in places. This is 6 minutes of the closer smoke event. An online search didn't come up with any clues of origins.

Also went back to the Big Sandy schools to get a good picture of the warning signs that I saw during the last ride I posted that they've posted around the campus and streets near the campus. It's a shame they have to resort to stuff like this, but I hope it helps convince idiots with bad intentions to move along....

That sign highlights what I’ve said ever since I worked for DSC and traveled to DFW area frequently - I said the Texas motto should include “Texans” such that it read “Don’t mess with Texas or Texans”

Had a great ride today with members on another forum that rode in from Houston to Bandera for the Rally. They asked if I would show them the Twisted Sisters. Sure, no problem. Then he said a few more of his friends from out of Dallas are wanted to join, then a couple more joined. We ended up with 9 bikes total. Most were not familiar with area at all and was impressed with ride.

Getting group together. Never played Road Caption for a larger group like this. Didn't lose anyone and no one wrecked, so good day for a group of riders that had never ridden together.

On of our stops for water and leg stretch. It was definitely a fair size group.

We stopped at Bent Rim Grill, local bike stop,, along with hundreds others. Food wait time was over an hour, so snacks at the local stop and rob joint lasted till we got back to Bandera.

Weatherman got it right this time. 73° with around 40% humidity (dry as the Sahara desert here near the Gulf Coast) and not a cloud in the sky. Really didn't have a destination in mind, so decided to go track down a few Texas County Courthouses and add them to my list. I need to review my records more thoroughly because as I pulled up to the Jasper County Courthouse my wife says "we've already been to this one" and I said "yup"....took a picture of it back in January. Weather stayed nice all day, even though it got a touch warm in the late afternoon in the mid part of the SE Texas quadrant, but we got through that little heat wave pretty quick and temperatures came back to the high 70s and low 80s.

Took some loopy routes from point to point in order to ride some roads in this neck of the woods that I hadn't ridden before. I'm going to have start going way out of my way to continue to find these "new to me" roads, but they are out there and I guess I've got nothing but time to go ride them..

Lots of people out and about today but most of them managed to drive with some semblance of control and I didn't have any close calls. Saw two or three car shows in parking lots and parks and a couple of town gatherings/festivals but didn't stop to look. Just a really nice day for a ride and I wanted to roll as much as I could.

I'll check the GoPro and see if there is anything noteworthy to post, but I don't think there is, unless looking through a bunch of dead bugs on the windshield makes for some trippy video.

Alan, nice ride and court house pictures. Looks like we both had beautiful weather. But had you beat with 19 percent humidity. Funny how just a few hours west can make a huge difference.

And the Relive video.

This app looks great. I just installed Relive on my iPhone and intend to try out today running errands in my cage; the weather is still cold. But don’t cry for me you Texans - I got my trip planning juices flowing this morning for a tow and ride down to KY in May.

It is a pretty cool app. There's several of us that use it. Has a short leaning curve. I started a group over there that several of us post in to make it easier to see each other's ride.
