Didn't he also have a custom guitar shop? Or am I thinking about someone else?
Not that I am aware of. Several manufacturers made "Ed King Signature" models, including Gibson, Fender and Paul Reed Smith but I don't know of any custom work or sales that he was involved with.......but that doesn't mean it didn't happen.......

Billy Gibbons pre ZZ Top......he's the one that is already showing signs of a receding hairline...... ;)

Amboy Dukes, with Ted Nugent, got famous for Journey to the Center of The Mind and I like that song just fine. But I also like the stuff that didn't make the radio, like this one:

That one brings back some memories. Rick recorded that song at least 3 times, once "solo", once with Johnny Winter on Johnny's "Johnny Winter And" album and again on a live recording with Johnny and Edgar Winter (Edgar Winter's White Trash). Which brings up trivia. What do these songs have in common with the video @bpe posted of Rock Roll Hootchie Koo?

You've got me stumped on the trivia, I will be awaiting the answer.
The bass player in the Hootchie Koo video is Dan Hartman who went on to do a bunch of solo work, including "I Can Dream About You" that was a pretty big hit on radio and MTV. The video I attached shows a fake band acting like they were doing it for the movie "Streets of Fire" and Dan doesn't appear in it. He later released his own video. He died at 43 of a brain tumor, quite a talented guy.

Rick Derringer was the guitarist/singer for the McCoys when they released "Hang On Sloopy" in 1965. (Ouch, now I'm feeling old.) Rick wrote Rock and Roll Hootchie Koo but it was released by Johnny Winter in 1970, with Rick and the McCoys as Johnny's back up band "And". Rick then worked with Edgar Winter on "They Only Come Out at Night" famous for "Frankenstein" and "Free Ride" and they used Rock and Roll Hootchie Koo in their live sets. And, oh yeah, Dan Hartman wrote and sang "Free Ride".

Late Saturday psychedelia:
Guitar player (Steve Howe) went on to be in "Yes" shortly after this was recorded:

The guitar player in the foreground is George Young. George's brothers are Malcolm and Angus who got a little bit famous with a little old band called AC/DC. Brother George also produced the first 5 AC/DC albums.

George also went on to form "Flash and the Pan", who had several radio hits, this one of my favorites:

ZZ Top held the record for the most sold-out concerts for one tour in Dallas. 3 nights at the Reunion Arena. Unless someone broke that record.
Led Zeppelin holds the record for the most sold-out concerts in Los Angeles. 9 (that's right I said nine 😄) nights at the LA Forum. Rest assured, this is a record that cannot be broken.

Had Michael Jackson not died/killed himself/got killed by his doctor in 2009 his "This Is It" tour was sold out for 50 dates at the O2 Arena in London. More than a million tickets sold for the one venue. The refund process must have been overwhelming.

It's looking like we're going to hit our first 80-degree day this week.
Mosquitos trying to carry me off from my garage this evening, I hope we get a little Spring in this year before the Heat Wave arrives. And she is way better looking than that crew known as the The Who....LOL

Ah, the magnificent Linda, along with Waddy Wachtel on guitar. She was the one who was responsible for a few of her backup musicians and friends to form a band called the Eagles.
