I don’t care if you have 3 lifts, a TIG welder and a horizontal mill - a garage isn’t a garage unless it has a radio.

Post up what ever you have on yours or maybe what the sound track will be on your next ride.

Hey, I was just listening to this, but not in my garage (too cold) and I am driven to posting it. For those of you who don't know Kenny Wayne Sheppard mean axe; Listen:
It renews my faith in the younger generation of artists!

T. Rex version is prime.
Power Station version is most excellent as well. I have never understood what the song was about and the video makes even less sense......but the song still holds up today.

Nothing like a good ole battle of the bands!

... Rock is just too dangerous to listen to when riding. That is all...
I can confirm that. I got my 2nd to last speeding ticket back in the late 70's going to class after work with Detective blaring on my pitiful upgraded car sound system. I was doing some serious driver's seat dancing, air guitar and drums and let the pedal get a little to close to the metal before the popo broke up my little party. I'm amazed how far OE car radios have come as the ones in my truck and car are far better than anything I cobbled together back in the day.

I do have a kluged together sound system in my garage that turned out, mostly because of dumb luck, to sound pretty good. Of course my older ears don't hear detail and nuance as well they used to, so the "audiophile" (haha) bar gets lowered somewhat every year.

However, I may be the last person on earth without a Spotify or I-Tunes or whatever cloud based music subscription. I just stream whatever the ClassicUndergroundRadio channel at 3WK.com happens to be playing. It is a collection of 60's to mid 80's artists, with a healthy dose of non-mainstream bands and "B" sides or deep album cuts instead of the typical "Classic Rock" FM radio schlop.

Couple of examples:

Wow does hearing West Coast... bring back memories. I had this LP (sold I think in a garage sale) Memories of underground FM stations with few or no commercials, playing album sides after midnight - to my cassette recorder pirating tunes, giving them to girlfriend - UHOH! gotta go - wife is nearby, but I was single at the time...

While some were doing the disco thing in the 70's this is just one of the many other musical things going on in parallel. After living with that amazing assortment of talent and styles and creativity that were just everyday events in those days it makes the canned, sterile, corporate crap around today mostly unlistenable. A hundred years from now Rory Gallagher, his guitar and his music will still be amazing. Who's going to remember anything from the 2010's?

Souped up Ford, for @lesblank 'cause I know he doesn't want to hear anymore about takin' no Chevy to the levee.....

Hey, when I referenced 70s disco in prior post, yeah I had the popular white gear, but I wasn’t all in. Early married life dictated that I, with other similar young marrieds took dance lessons. Pity me.
But when I got home, I turned this one on the stereo, before my son broke the stereo, and enjoyed it, head phones on. You probably know this guy before he went all-California. Enjoy his bust out, axe abuse:

I did not intend to throw any personal shade at you about the disco, but it just kind of took me back to a place 50 years ago when the live music scene and my opportunities to play (for profit) started drying up due to the disco phase. Looking back, it didn't last long but at the time I thought it might well be the end of civilization.

Anyone who actually owned a West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band album in the day has my utmost musical respect.(y)

In my opinion, the 70's had the most diverse and easily attainable music available to anyone that had an FM radio and time to listen. After the corporate crap took over the radio and before Spotify/XM/Sirius/YouTube/etc. came along it was kind of a musical desert out there.

Understand that I can’t sing, not even in the shower, can’t play a note, I always enjoy music. I generally agree with you regarding the golden age of our music, and disagree with Mr. McLean, except for some country acts, music died in the 90s. And house/rap/spoken-word killed it.

For me being in high school in the late 70s I watched the spread of disco and the slowly fading embers of what was Classic rock. I think a big part of this isn't that rock died but more that it changed in response to disco's effect on the market share. Typical top 40 radio stations played both rock and disco. Rock altered course and softened a bit.

It was the Progressive rock groups who passed through. Groups like Genesis went from Selling England by the Pound to almost danceable albums like Abacab. Rush also made it through going from a heavier sound on 2112 to more the radio friendly Moving Pictures and Signals.

Sadly, I missed the bus and continued to wait for the "rock sound again in all it's splendor. I would wait until the advent of grunge in the 90s. Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, etc, was the next phase & depending on how you look at it possibly more significant than the 70's was to today's market.

Went to YouTube to try to figure out why my Daily Ride video wasn't working and stumbled onto this ancient Joe Walsh/Sam Kinison "collaboration". My favorite part is when Stern asks Joe if it will make Don Henley mad if he does Desperado and says "yes" and cares not one bit. Priceless.

And the bad news just keeps on piling up. Lost Anna Mae Bullock (Tina Turner) today at 83 years.

Quite the performer and great, unique voice. BTW, she's 70 in this performance.
