How many times have you seen a similar sign?

Do you stop and read the historical marker? I do.

So from now on, you're out on the road getting some wind therapy, stop, take a picture and post it here, like this:

And maybe a close up of marker.

There approximately 175,105 in the US and Canada, think we could at least get 175,000 of those? Challenge has began.

Yeah, they are all over around here, lots of stuff around the Texas Revolution with Mexico and Native American stuff as well. Seems like I never find any in such a motorcycle friendly location as your picture....seems like most are on shoulderless roads with mud pits or gravel ponds for "parking" areas in front of them, if any parking is there at all....all of which are not a good spot to take a heavy tourer.

Guess I get lucky. I've found a bunch that you can pull right up to. Yea, most are gravel right in front of marker, but most are better than my road.

Oh I got a bunch of these. This neck of the woods saw a good portion of the War of 1812. I can fill this in nicely once spring comes.
Looking forward to it, I like history. I should, I was here when they introduced dirt. :ROFLMAO:

The Battle of Lundy’s Lane happened 300 yards from my house and at one point the British guns were over run by the Americans and the British fell back to what is now my street. It is common here to find all kinds of stuff in the ground, anything from musket balls to actual interred soldiers. I haven’t found anything at the house here but I haven’t dug much.

I don't have a metal detector. I had thought about it at one point. Almost all of these sites are protected and I don't think you are allowed to search them. Musket balls and buttons are the most common finds. A lot of arrow heads as well due to having Chief Techumseh and his warriors backing General Brock and the British.

I get all kinds of bad ideas when I go into a pawn shop, they have lots of stuff I didn't know I needed.
