Hello fellow motorcycle afficionados. I am starting this thread as many of us go by another name other than what our parents gave us at birth. If you wish to, please give us the story of how you came to be called what you list here on the forum or elsewhere. I'll go first...

A few decades ago, I joined the US Navy. After about 1.5 years of training, I finally arrived at my first helicopter squadron. This unit conducts Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) as its primary mission. Next mission is Search and Rescue (SAR). When I arrived, I was the 13th Airman in the division and thus received the callsign of "Boot" or "Bootcamp". I hated that but knew enough not to let it out or else it would be worse.

A few months into a Mediterranean deployment in the mid 80s, my squadron softball team was playing against the USS Mississippi's team in Carney Park, Naples, IT. Going into the fifth inning, we were down by two runs. I'm at bat with bases loaded. I am not such a powerful hitter, thus I intended on a line drive into the outfield with the hopes that two runners would come in and tie us up. Instead, it was a pop fly into right field. Dang it I thought; the outfielder will catch it. Wrong again; it cleared the fence. A Grand Slam! In the end, we won the game by two runs for which I was given credit for. One of the older swimmers said my name is no longer "Boot", but instead it is now "BOOG".

Boog Powell is quite a famous baseball player from Baltimore and spokesman for Miller Lite beer. And since my last name is Powell and I hit a single Grand Slam, the call sign has stuck ever since. As a matter of fact, many sailors out there may have no clue who I am until someone says that is "Boog".

Not a lot of fellow riders in my area & those that are seem to be a pretty closed group when it comes to a guy rolling in on an 80's sport bike. Not the groove they are going for so I never really earned a road name in any circle of friends.

I have ridden with groups from the GSXR site and was always refered to as Tin. I guess that will have to do for me.

Good thread. On forums I'm very original, shorten version of my first and last name. But my nickname among friends, yes, I actually have a few, is "Loose Nut" I gained that by my motorcycle and car track driving. My Mustang that I road raced still had original drum brakes all the way around. It was good for a few hot laps then would experience brake fad really bad. I learned to power slid through corners rather than relying on brakes and got pretty good at it.

At one event a spectacular mentioned to one of my friends I drove like a nut. My friend replied that I had a lot of "Loose Nuts" and the name stuck. It gets shortened, get the pun, often to just Nut. It's fun when we're around strangers and all my friends are calling me "Nuts". Always said, if the shoe fits, wear it.

Been lucky though the years to do pretty well with my unorthodox driving style.

What I’m known by most is hogcowboy. That was piled on me when I rode a Harley or what some call a hog. They also knew I was a rancher or cowboy. So hogcowboy is what my riding buds started calling. I’m now on an Indian so for this site I changed to ndncowboy. Still the same rotten person.
I see what you did there...n-d-n. Now I get it!

Cowboys and Indians, has changed since I was a kid.
But in today's world of 'not judging', cowboys can ride Indians (and vice-versa) as long as both men (or women, or any combination of them) are consenting... 😁

Early in my riding career, circa 1999, the moniker bestowed upon me was 'Biker Bill'. My name is Bill and I hung around a bunch of Bikers. I still use that handle on many sites.

Because of my predeliction for long distance riding I am also going by 'Ironbutt Bill'.

Sorry guys, I just don't have much of an imagination. I just use my initials. No one has really ever given me a nickname. Well you know, none that I would want to repeat. o_O

I joined another forum when I was still working in the car business, thus CarGuy. Now I refer to myself as ExCarGuy, but since my moniker was already established I just kept the original. I worked in New Vehicle dealerships beginning in 1976 as a car salesman in Austin, and progressed through the ranks until I ran 3 different ones. This is what caused my move to San Marcos. I finally burned out and decided enough was enough, and retired early at the age of 59. Damn I'm glad I did. Retirement is sooooo much better!

Which one is you? 😉

I'm sure I'm not the only one that thought that. Just the only one rude enough to ask.
I knew Jeff back when the other two BIG Dogs were around and then it was just one. But time brings back the family love...
