Here's my dog Winnie earlier this year - she didn't know we had company.

There’s so many critters around here I’m sure the hay will be gone in no time at all, deer or no deer. I get raccoons and fox every night on the back game camera.

Keep in mind that hay isn't a good food for them. As much as you feed them other things they probably won't try to eat much hay, but if they do they will have a hard time digesting it.
Neither is corn. We have a biologist on our neighborhood site and she is adamant to let the deer find their own food. She said putting out water is fine, but not food.

The problem is that deer digestion is a finely tuned physiological process. Just the right combination of microorganisms, enzymes, and pH enable deer to digest a normal winter diet of woody vegetation. When offered a sudden supply of corn, a deer’s digestive system doesn’t have time to adjust to a high carbohydrate diet. The result can be acute acidosis followed by death within 72 hours.

Warmed up enough today so sat on porch. So here's a few pictures of my other "shop dogs". Mr 8 point came by to harass the does. This picture taken off porch.

Then stood up for a better picture, he moved back some but stayed close. The doe in front of him we call grandma. She's as big as most bucks and rules the area. She will even run the bucks off if the make her mad.

Here's a regular size doe close to him.

Ayva is seriously dedicated to any project - garage or house. She is never more than 3 feet away when I am working on something. She will sleep by the radial arm saw and get covered in saw dust. Then we are both in trouble.

I have had several companions, this is Snakedog, he as been gone for over 30 years now. He loved riding with me, I would strap a milk crate with a pillow on the back of the seat, and he was good to go :
