Looks like the Weather is returning to normal. Has been stuck in the low 50's and below. Felt kind of under the weather the past week, since my last ride. Worried that i had covid, but i snapped out of it in 3-4 days. Might have been what i been eating (trying mexican). Anyway, I feel much improved now which makes me wonder if it was psycho-sematic, having to do with the lack of riding and (at the time) the future weather forecast.

Happy Days are here again

Looking at some of these temps makes me glad I left NY in 1975 and moved to Texas. This is the best time of the year to ride here!
Did you grow up in NY? How did you aclimatize to the frying pan they call summer? Based on a trip I made many years ago, I would absolutley love it down there. Canadians typically have a melting point of about 90F though. I would be in the pool a lot.

There's quite a bit of variation of weather and temps around Texas, @Tinsnips . It is a pretty big state after all. North Texas will see snow whereas south Texas is semi-tropical. Where I live in San Marcos (slightly south-central Texas) this time of the year will typically see low temps of 40-50°F and highs of 60's. The summer is brutal until you acclimate, and even then it's hot. Lows in the 70's and highs in the upper 90's to low 100's. I call it our winter since most won't go outside; just like up north when it's below 0°. It took a while to acclimate but now there's no way I would ever move back to cold country!

I was born and raised in southern NY near West Point and left when I was 23 to Texas. Never regretted the move.

Weather in Texas can definitely be extreme. This past summer in Bandera we had 54 days over 100, and very little rain. But we also get pretty chilly, that I really hate. Have a cold front coming in this week. Looks like I'm getting to test my water pipe insulation.

It's what your used to....

I've experienced living in cold and Ice/snow in the Chicago suburbs and the desert of Arizona, 45 yrs there, 20 yrs here. I told a friend that i should move back to Chicago (area) for a winter, maybe i would appreciate the weather here again when i return. I was joking but Jokes usually have some truth in them.

50 degrees i consider too cold to ride.. I mean i will if i have to, and have, but its not a pleasure cruise. I have a new appreciation for the 60'sF and 68F sounds warm as hell now after this extended cold period we've experience :D.

It depends on the time of year here. 50 in March is a t-shirt day - 60 in September is damn cold.

Y'all will laugh at me, well heck, you do anyway, but it's about to get cold here on Thursday.

Gotta remember this is South Central Texas. We ain't used to this or really not prepared. Bandera is looking at 24 to 36 hours below freezing. This area is infamous for power and water outrages during hard freezes.

Well I think I'm at least deep freeze weather ready for now. Got my two water cans filled, currently sitting on porch ready to bring in the night before freeze. Then got generator out and fired up. I was pleased it started on first pull since it's been over a year since last started. Got my extension cords ready to do.

I rolled it back into shed leaving it handing to roll out. Hopefully, I'm good to go.

I tested the electric fireplace heater with generator so we will at least have a little heat. It only pulls 1400 watts and generator is 8500.

Temps are forecasted to drop to the mid-teens by Christmas Eve here. Looks like the plumbers are going to have a merry Christmas, fixing a crap load of busted pipes. o_O
That sounds like northern Virginia weather this coming week.

By-the-way, I see what you did there with that crack about a "Crap load" in regard to plumbers, don't think I missed that for a minute now... 😅
